International Students Health & Dental Plan

International Students

 All International students must opt into the Students’ Union Health and Dental Plan while
attending St. Francis Xavier
University
. This policy was adopted in
2010-2011 after lengthy discussions with University and local stakeholders.

International Students with Canadian Citizenship

 All International Students with Canadian Citizenship may
only opt out of the Students’ Union Health and Dental Plan if they can provide
proof of current provincial health coverage as well as comparable coverage*

 * Comparable Coverage includes one or more of the following
criteria:

  • A letter from another policy holder evidencing the coverage applicable to the student, attesting to the fact the student is covered for health and dental.
  • Acurrent certificate of coverage, for the student, under another comparable benefit plan.
  • A copy of the insurance policy under which the student is covered.A current direct-payment drug card issued to the student.
  • A payroll statement showing a premium deduction for the students’ coverage under a comparable benefit plan.

International Exchange Students and Masters Students

All International Exchange Students and Masters Students
will be treated on a case by case basis for opt into the Students’ Union Health
and Dental plan.

If an Exchange or Masters student wishes to opt into the
Students’ Union Health and Dental Plan they also must pay the yearly student
fees to first become a recognized member of the Students’ Union.
