Role of the PEO

The role of the Primary Event Organizer is to plan, promote, and execute fun and safe events on our campus. As a ‘PEO’ you have a responsibility to do your due diligence when it comes to ensuring that events are inclusive and safe for all participants.

You are responsible to set up meetings with different Event Review Committee Stakeholders pertaining and abide by the recommendations issued on the Risk Assessment Form.

On the night of your event, your role is to act as a liaison between all parties that are working to ensure a safe, fun environment. You are to implement the ‘shut down procedure’ if the event needs to be shut down due to health and safety issues.

You are responsible to abide by the Community Code of Conduct, Residence Standards, Students’ Union Employee Standards and University Policies when it comes to planning your events.
You are responsible to plan events that abide by all Municipal; Provincial, and Federal laws in Antigonish; Nova Scotia; and Canada.
