VP Activities and Events - Salary $6000 to $7000 with free tuition

The VP Activities & Events is one of the most exciting executive positions on the Students' Union Executive board.From the first moment a new StFX student steps onto our campus they see the benefits and fruits of this positions work.The office of the VP Activities & Events is responsible for all the student programming on campus (frosh week, concerts, guest speakers), plays an active role in all society programming which effects the overall student experience and manages all risk assessment with student event planning and execution on campus.

The VP Activities & Events is responsible for planning all events run by StFX Students' Union including Frosh Week, Homecoming Activities, Winter Ball, X-Ring Celebrations, Winter Carnival, assists in the Golden X Inn programming, Senior Week and Convocation Celebrations and any other event this position wishes to pursue.Other events include large scale concerts, great guest speakers, comedians, hypnotists, student lecture series and even ski trips.

The VP Activities & Events also plays a large role in managing the risk of all student events on campus and in developing all policy concerning student run events and programming on the STFX Campus.This position involves developing great relationships and working heavily involved with the VP of Student Experience, the Director of Student Life, the Residence Office, and the Keating Millennium Center.

The VP Activities & Events accomplishes a lot of this work through the variety of committees this position is involved with:

  • Board of Directors of Bloomfield Centre, as a voting member;
  • Executive Board of the Students' Union, as a voting member;
  • Student Orientation Committee, as a voting member;
  • Event Review Committee, as Co-Chair
  • Homecoming Committee, as a voting member;
  • Senior Week Committee, as a voting member;
  • Students' Union Representative Council, as a non-voting member.

Entertainment Coordinators

The Entertainment Coordinator is to report directly to the VP Activities and Events and play an active role in the planning, execution, and production of all Students' Union Events.The Entertainment Coordinator also assists in the planning of the programming coming out of the Activities Office.They are responsible for putting of a minimum of two events each semester in the Bloomfield center and should act as a liaison with the Residences on campus on what events are happening.Also this position overseas a crew of volunteers that assist in the production of Students' Union Events.If you have a passion for planning events this job is for you.


Orientation Co-Chairs

Orientation Co-Chairs assist the VP Activities & Events in the planning and production of Orientation Week (Frosh Week).They oversee the hiring and management of the Orientation Committee (OCREW!!!).These two positions work closely together and start working on Frosh Week as soon as they are hired.They sit on the Student Orientation Committee, in person or via conference call throughout the summer months in preparation for Frosh Week.They are in direct consultation with the VP Activities & Events throughout the summers months to plan and complete tasks for Frosh Week and are required to return to campus no later than two weeks before Orientation Week begins.If you are ENGERGETIC, fun, have great managerial skills and can motivate a large group of people along with great problem solving skills than this job is for you and is so rewarding!!!
