Vice President of Student Relations - Salary $6000 to $7000 with free tuition.
Primarily, it is the responsibility of the VP Student Relations to train, manage, and assist House Presidents and Vice Presidents within their roles.
The VP Student Relations chairs the On-Campus Affairs committee which meets bi-weekly and is comprised of House Presidents, the Senior Off Campus Leader, On Campus Councillors, and Off Campus Councilors.
The VP Student Relations acts as a liaison between the Students' Union and Residence Services, meeting regularly with the Residence Life Coordinators, Residence Life Manager, and the Director of Residence Services. The One Team Committee is also co-chaired by the VP Student Relations and the Residence Life Manager.
Through the House Council Coordinators, it is the responsibility of the VP Student Relations to oversee the House Councils. This includes ensuring that each of the specific representatives attend their meetings as well as monitoring house spending. House dues paid by the residents of each house are put into one account at the beginning of each year in order to fund house initiatives. The VP Student Relations must approve all house spending, ensure that all spending is voted on by the House Councils, and monitor spending so houses are aware of their financial status throughout the year. It is also the responsibility of the VP Student Relations to transfer money from the main house dues account into individual house accounts as the House Councils request money.
House points are monitored by the VP Student Relations throughout the year and determine the winners of each House Cup and the House of the Year.
House Presidents
An incredibly important part of on-campus student life at StFX, House Presidents are elected in the spring of each year but fall under the guidance of the VP Student Relations. Presidents are responsible for returing early to StFX, attending a training week and for organizing positive in-house programming for students. House Vice-Presidents
Also elected in the spring, House Vice Presidents are key to the on-campus experience and work with the VP Student Relations, House Presidents and others to engage on-campus students and help create a positive atmosphere on-campus.If you're interested in this position, speak to your House President / VP and the VP Student Relations.
Off-Campus Leaders
Three positions, the Senior OCL and two OCLs are challenged with the task of engaging off-campus students and helping facilitate a positive off-campus experience. The OCLs oversee the Off Campus Council. This council is responsible for planning activities and events to engage Off Campus students as well as addressing any issues of Off Campus students may face. The Off Campus Leaders, with the director of the Off Campus Council, oversee the Off Campus budget. Additionally, the Senior OCL sits on the Campus Affairs Committee. House Council Coordinators
These two positions are responsible for overseeing the activities of all House Councils and the Off Campus Council. They are responsible for the training of all House Council Representatives and ensuring that House Council meetings are properly executed and that all House Council Representatives are attending their respective meetings.
