Vice President of Union Services - Salary $6000 to $7000 with free tuition

This position has the responsibility of overseeing and managing the wide range of services The U provides students. The eight services include: The PhotoStudio, Environmental Office, Tutoring @ X, Student Food Resource Centre, Off-Campus Housing Office, Student Advocate Office and X-Helpline. These services, excluding Tutoring @ X, are ran by sub-executives who act as managers of the services. Tutoring@X falls under the direct responsibility of the VP Union Services and during the summer months the VP Union Services directly runs the Off Campus Housing Office.

The VP Union Services has a very large customer service aspect to it, and must work toward the goal of meeting every students needs. The responsibility to ensure that all services offered function properly and are readily available to all STFX students is the main priority in this position.


Photostudio Manager

This is the position responsible for running the digital photography and darkroom sections of the Students' Unions PhotoStudio. They are also required to provide mini courses teaching students the in and outs of the photography development type of their choice. In the second semester the Photostudio manager is responsible for planning and putting off the Student Photography exhibit. If you have great teaching skills and are very creative apply for this position.


Student Food Resource Centre Coordinator

This coordinator is responsible for managing the Student Food Resource Centre, recruiting and scheduling volunteers, organizing fundraising events, and purchasing groceries for the Food Resource Centre. The Coordinator is also responsible for managing the Meal Exchange Coordinator, and works in conjunction with them to plan events such as Trick or Eat. This is a great position for someone who is extremely organized and has great people skills.


Meal Exchange Coordinator

This position is responsible for planning and executing Meal Exchange events, as per the regional and national Meal Exchange Office. The Coordinator must run at least one food drive and Skip-a-Meal campaigns per semester. In conjunction with the Student Food Resource Centre, the Meal Exchange Coordinator works toward ending food insecurity on our campus. This position is great for someone who is very organized and passionate about food issues within the Xaverian community.


Off-Campus Housing Officer

This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and effective management of the Students' Union Off-Campus Housing website. Each house placed on the list must be personally inspected by the Housing Officer, and the Housing Officer must deal directly with the Antigonish Community. The Off-Campus Housing Officer must have a good knowledge of the Landlord Tenancy Agreement, as they are a first hand supply of this information for students. This is a great position for someone who has great people and communication skills.


X-Helpline Coordinator

This position manages our Student Helpline. The Coordinator is responsible for scheduling volunteers and must act as a direct contact for the volunteers at any time.With the help of the StFX Counselling Centre, they are responsible for training their volunteers in stress management and dealing with a large range of situations. This position demands that the individual have great stress management, organization and listening skills.


Environment Officers

These positions are responsible for managing and running all environmental initiatives for the Students Union. The Internal Environmental Officer is responsible for initiatives within residences, whereas the External Environmental Officer works with the Antigonish Community and University Administration to promote environmental initiatives. Besides placing events throughout campus to raise student awareness on environmental issues, the Environmental Officers sit on many committees. If you are a very determined, organized, environment loving individual this position would be great for you.


Student Advocate

The Student Advocates focus on disciplinary issues within the Community Code, dealing with residence issues, and any other sanctions that fall under the discipline process in the StFX community. They must have a full understanding of the StFX Community Code, as well as the Appeal and Discipline hearing processes. They are expected to be a great source of opinion and support for those students who may be charged under the Community Code due to an incident. The Student Advocates must have a thorough knowledge of student's rights as defined by the Academic Calendar, and must be able to clearly communicate these rights and responsibilities to students. This is a very professional position that requires a team of hard-working and charismatic individuals.
