2010-2011 President and VP Executive

Sam Mason
President

My name is Sam Mason, and I’m YOUR Students’ Union President. I act as the chief spokesperson for the U, and work to represent all of you at all municipal, provincial and federal levels of government. I’m an Environmental Science student, and I live for X’s intramural program.

Your Union can offer you everything from employment, security, food, a drive home, advocacy, residence parties, volunteer opportunities, off-campus living, a drink at the Golden X Inn, and more. We are trying to make this year as fun, relaxed, and as green as possible. There are a ton of things to become involved in with your Union and at X. Stop on by if you have any questions or just want to kick it. We want to hear what you have to say.

Alia Hack
Vice President Executive

I’m a fourth year student majoring in Psychology and minoring in X-Life. I was born in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, but completed school grades 7 - 12 in Halifax (HGS). In Grade 12 I visited StFX and instantly felt connected; it was a perfect match. I strive to be involved in as many activities as I can because I am happiest when busy. This summer I look forward to playing soccer, working for the Union and adventuring to Halifax, Montreal and the St. John’s George Street Musical Festival.

I have fostered a new passion for softball and I enjoy jumping on trampolines in the rain. This year, I will be working closely with the Equity Advocate and Student Senators to make the campus more inclusive, welcoming and academically engaging.

Whenever you see me around campus, just say hi – I can’t wait to meet you!

Madeline Midtgaard
Equity Advocate

My name is Madeleine Midtgaard. I was born in Oslo, Norway in 1989. I came to StFX when I was 19 and I am now a second year Arts student. I live in Asker, Norway with my parents and have a 23 year old sister who lives in Oslo. Though having lived my entire life in Norway, my parents used the summers to travel which has also given me an out of the ordinary interest in traveling. After High School I took a year off and traveled the States before deciding to go to university in Canada. As an International student I am very aware of the diversity that is present at StFX and how important it is to keep this diversity flourishing and thriving, which is one of the main tasks of the Equity Office.
