Student Societies
Society Basics: Your Student Union offers some of the best university experiences through the countless societies we help facilitate on and off-campus each year. There is generally a society for everyone, however, once in a while people have ideas for new societies. So, if you have an idea for a new society or just want to get involved, the person you want to talk to is the Society Coordinator.
The Society Coordinator is here to make your life easier. The Coordinator will help you in starting a society, provide you the information you may need and answer any questions you or any of your friends may have. This is another service of your Student Union so take advantage of it and get in touch with the Society Coordinator today!

Applying for Funding: Society Funding can be a complicated process but when done correctly this money can be crucial to getting your society off the ground or reaching your fundraising goals. To apply for funding please contact the society Coordinator.
Some tips to keep in mind:
* Your Union does not fund parties, or alcohol at any events, nor does it endorse or support pub crawls.(So get someone else to plan them!)
* Your Union does not fund society clothing unless needed to compete with.
* The U is encouraged to fund societies that already have a fundraising plan in place and will fund legitimate expenses such as postage, phone calls, printing etc * The Union will often fund promotional costs such as posters for events, fundraising, or awareness campaigns. For help with this, just fill out this forum.
* Your Union is more likely to fund those societies which attempt to give back to the Xaverian community or the world at large.
* The U does not fund societies with a political affiliation or non secular activities.
* Be clear, complete, and descriptive when asking for money. Do not just put down dollar amounts- explain where the money is going to be spent.
