Research: External Student Issues of St. FX Students

Thursday, March 22, 5:15PM - 6:00PM, Alumni Lounge (fourth floor Bloomfield Centre)
Purpose of Research:
To provide the office of the VP External with detail on what external issues matter most to St. FX students and why these issues are so important.
What You Will Be Asked to Do in the Research:
The time required for participation will be 40 minutes. You will be asked to discuss the external student issues you have experienced at St. FX and offer feedback, either explanatory or critical, on the data that the External Affairs Office received from the initial online feedback form. While maintaining confidentiality, findings from the feedback form will be shared with the focus group.
Benefits of the Research and Benefits to You:
The responses you provide will go to the VP External Affairs Office in order to better inform policy objectives that improve the St. FX student experience.
Risks and Discomforts:
The confidentiality of your response will be protected by the VP External Affairs Office of the St. FX Students’ Union. It is the opinion of the Office that all potential risks or discomforts associated with your participation in the research have been mitigated to the utmost degree.
All information you supply during the research will be held in confidence. Your name will not appear in any report. Confidentiality will be provided to the fullest extent possible by law.
The data will be safely stored with the researchers. The file containing detail on your responses will be stored with a security password and will only be accessible to the researchers. All data collected and material related to this project (including informed consent forms) will be stored safely for two years, after which it will be deleted/destroyed permanently. While preserving confidentiality, the findings from the focus group will be used in order to construct a survey questionnaire. In addition, the findings of this research may be presented, maintaining the anonymity of the participants, at a Students Nova Scotia Conference to better inform policy objectives of Students’ Unions throughout the province.
Your participation in the focus group is completely voluntary and you may choose to stop participating at any time.
Withdrawal from the Study:
You can stop participating in the focus group at any time, for any reason. If you wish to withdraw from the study, simply exit-out of the page. In the event you withdraw from the study, all associated data collected will be immediately destroyed wherever possible.
